Metro Police Raid in Marabastad

The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) held a raid in Marabastad close to the Pretoria CBD on Tuesday the 14th of August 2012 . The TMPD was acting in accordance to the City of Tswhane's city beautification and renovation project.

The TMPD demolished illegal and informal structures in the area with the assistance of municipal workers.

The night was interesting as it was my first taste of what life is like for the people in Marabastad. We found three  kittens in a demolished structure during the raid and the helplessness of them heightened the poor living conditions of these people and the struggle that daily life is for them.
