South African Air Force Pays Tribute to Comrades

The South African Air Force held a ceremony at the Air Force Base Waterkloof in Pretoria on the 19th of December 2012 to pay their respects to the 11 members who passed away when the Dekota C-47 they were flying in crashed in the Drakensberg Mountains on 5 December.

Members of the armed branches gathered on the airfield when the C-130 Hercules brought back 6 of the 11 to their families.

The Chief of the South African Air Force was in attendance and saluted each coffin as it was carried out by a guard of honour.

The ceremony played off as a silence swept over the airfield with only the sounds of the honour guard's movement that could be heard.
